The Lackawanna Trail School Board is anticipated to approve two Network Cabling Projects to K.I.T. Communications at its regular meeting on Monday.
The board announced its intention to approve the contracts during its work session on Monday, March 5.
According to Superintendent Matthew Rakauskas, if approved the district will pay $20,999 to rewire the internet system at the elementary school, and $48,908 to have the same service performed at the high school. The rewiring will provide faster internet and better Wi-Fi service at the two buildings for both teachers and students.
The district expects to be reimbursed for part of the cost of the project, Rakauskas explained.
The board has also been asked to approve a request from Kevin Dikeman to take student Alaina Jones to the All-State Wind Ensemble at the PMEA All State Conference Competition in Lancaster on April 18-20. High school principal Mark Murphy said this is the second time Jones will be attending a state competition.
The board is expected to vote on a request to approve Mary Belle Gilory’s art trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on April 27.
The board will also vote on a request to approve a senior class trip to Kalahari Waterpark Resort on May 7-8, returning to school on May 9, at no cost to the district.
