HARRY FAUX

A 45-year-old Meshoppen man was sentenced to 12-24 months in state prison for animal cruelty which police say happened when he dragged a dog behind a mini-bike on the Fourth of July.

Harry Scott Faux of Rattlesnake Hill Road also received separate 12-24 month sentences for DUI which the judge said were fourth or subsequent including one at the time the alleged animal cruelty took place.

According to a police criminal complaint Meshoppen Chief John Krieg said that eyewitnesses told him that Faux was driving on Mayo Beach Road in Meshoppen Township in a fast and reckless manner with the dog attached to his motorbike on a short chain.

The witnesses told Krieg that they ran out and stopped the driver and demanded he give them the dog because all of its feet were bleeding.

They said Faux told him he was trying to teach the dog a lesson because it had chased a bike.

The dog was taken away by an animal rescue for treatment, and Judge Shurtleff said Faux also would have responsibility for $1,042 restitution related to the animal’s rehabilitation.
