A 26-year-old Meshoppen man was sentenced to 8-24 months in state prison for corruption of minors involving a 14-year-old boy.

Kyle Turner Harrington III, 26, of Townhouse Apartments, Meshoppen, appeared before President Judge Russell Shurtleff last Wednesday and apologized for his behavior last fall when he allegedly smoked marijuana with the teen.

Court records show that the victim was on court-ordered probation and was drug-tested when he was found to have marijuana in his system.

The teen reluctantly pointed to his neighbor as the source of the drug, and a search of Harrington’s apartment revealed marijuana which Harrington told investigators he had gotten in Sunbury.

Harrington’s attorney Steven Franko had asked for a probationary sentence for his client, but Judge Shurtleff said Harrington had violated the terms of a previous sentence in 2011 and “is not amenable to probation.”

Moreover, the judge noted that because of Harrington’s actions, he caused the victim to violate his own term of probation.

Harrington was taken into custody, and the judge said he would be taken to Camp Hill for processing.
