A 34-year-old Lemon Township man was sentenced Wednesday to 30-60 months in state prison for reckless endangerment.

According to court records, Daniel Wayne Nichols Jr., of Dirt Lane, discharged a firearm last March 1 in his residence with his 8-year-old daughter in a nearby room.

The daughter had told a school employee she had difficulty hearing the day after the incident and told the employee about a gun being fired in her home the previous night.

The complaint noted that Nichols had previous convictions which should have prevented him from possessing or using a firearm.

Nichols told President Judge Shurtleff, “Nothing in my life I regret more than that day, but I know I have to serve my time.”

His attorney Timothy Michaels asked for a sentence in the county jail where Nichols could possibly be employed on work release.

But the judge did not agree and also laid down a $1,000 fine.
