The Elk Lake girls basketball team dropped to 7-13 overall after losing a division game to Forest City on Monday and two non-league matchups against Carbondale Area.

Forest City edged Elk Lake, 45-41, to bump the Lady Warriors to 1-4 in second half play for Division IV in the Lackawanna League, while Carbondale won 61-38 in a Division III-IV crossover game on Friday and 60-44 in a makeup game on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Against Forest City, the score was tied at 11-11 after the opening quarter before Elk Lake made a run to lead 23-19 at halftime.

In the third, Forest City pulled to within two and made its run in the fourth, outscoring the Lady Warriors 10-4 to edge out the victory.

Senior Rose Warner scored 14 points to lead Elk Lake and senior Eliza Bosscher chipped in with nine.

Elk Lake edged out a win in the junior varsity game, 36-25.

Junior Kylie Mosier led the Lady Warriors with a game-high 11 points.

At Carbondale on Friday, the Lady Warriors were held to four points in the opening quarter and headed into halftime trailing 21-18.

Carbondale then made its run in the third, outscoring Elk Lake 23-12 to put the game out of reach.

Senior Abby Johns led the Lady Warriors with 14 points.

In the first matchup earlier in the week, Carbondale came out firing to lead 19-8, then put together another 19-point quarter to head into halftime up 38-20.

Elk Lake outscored Carbondale 16-9 in the third but was unable to make the comeback in the fourth.

Bosscher scored a dozen points to lead the Lady Warriors and Johns contributed 10 in the loss.
