The Lackawanna Trail cross country team was swept in its Lackawanna League season opener at Wallenpaupack on Thursday.

The girls team lost 23-38 to the hosts and 25-32 to Delaware Valley, while the boys team lost 15-50 to Wallenpaupack and 16-46 to Delaware Valley.

In the girls race, sophomore Tori James finished second overall in 21:57 to lead the Lady Lions, who also saw sophomore Madison Swanchak finished fourth in 23:26 on the 3.1-mile course.

Delaware Valley’s Laina Bogusta picked up a win in 21:34.

In the boys race, the Lions did not place any runners in the top 15.

Wallenpaupack’s Tyler Wirth led a four-place sweep and crossed the finish in 17 minutes, 30.1 seconds.
