The Lackawanna Trail girls cross country team picked up two wins and saw one of its runners win the race in a home Lackawanna League meet on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

The Lady Lions won 15-50 over Mid Valley and 27-29 over West Scranton while also losing 24-37 to Scranton to improve to 7-6 overall.

Trail sophomore Tori James won the face, finishing the 3.1-mile course in 20:44.

Also for the Lady Lions, junior Madison Swanchak placed third with a time of 22:01.

On the boys’ side, Trail edged Mid Valley, 23-34, while also losing 23-35 to West Scranton and 15-46 to Scranton to drop to 5-11 overall this season.

Scranton’s Josh Christianson finished first overall with a winning time of 17:50.

In the junior high meet, Trail’s Deaghan Ross set a school record with his time of 12:06 on the 2-mile course.

Scranton’s Matt Eckenrode won the race with his time of 11:28.
