The Tunkhannock Area girls volleyball team kept its record at .500 by sweeping Coughlin on Friday night after losing 3-2 to MMI Prep on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
At Coughlin, Tunkhannock took the early control with a 25-11 win in the first set, then kept the momentum going to close out the sweep with 25-9 and 25-15 victories.
Senior Angela Colbenson had seven kills and two blocks and junior Megan Straley chipped in 12 digs to lead the Lady Tigers.
Against MMI Prep, Tunkhannock won the first set, 25-21, then dropped the next two with 25-17 and 25-10 losses.
The Lady Tigers would respond in the fourth set with a 25-15 win to tie things up, but MMI Prep battled back and won the fifth and final set, 15-9.
Senior Jessica Dymond had 10 kills and three blocks, Colbenson had 12 kills and four blocks, Straley added 23 digs and junior Abby Mingus notched seven aces to lead Tunkhannock in the loss.
With the split last week, the Lady Tigers are now 6-6 in the Wyoming Valley Conference with five regular season matches left to play.
