Alanna Warner takes the circle against Holy Cross on May 14 at University of Scranton.

The Lady Warriors dropped two games to end the season this week.

Elk Lake softball played at the University of Scranton’s Magis Field, facing Holy Cross for the top billing in Class 2A softball on Tuesday, May 14. The Warriors lost, 7-1 to the Crusaders in the non league game.

Olivia Voll had the only hit for Elk Lake.

The Lady Raiders forced a tie in Division IV when they handed the Lady Warriors their second loss in as many days on Wednesday in New Milford.

Jenna Newhart had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs for Elk Lake in the 5-4 loss.

The two teams played again to decide the division title Monday at Magis Field.

Blue Ridge took the Division IV crown in the game that had no bearing on playoff seeding.

Reese Warriner was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Charity Kasson belted a triple in the 5-2 loss.

Jackie Decker had the other hit for the Lady Warriors.

Decker said of the game, “We were focused, but I think we wanted to hit the ball too hard. Our big swings got the best of us. There was nothing special about the pitches. They just hit the balls in the right place, and we couldn’t place the ball the same way.”

She added, “Losing that game made us upset and angry, as it would any great team. We will only work harder because of it and come back better. We don’t shut down from losses. We focus and move on.”

Elk Lake finished the regular season with a 15-5 record and received a first round bye in the playoffs.

They will host Northwest on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
