Sophomore center Maddy Moro’s rebounding, scoring and shot-blocking abilities are getting her more than just kudos from second-year Keystone College women’s basketball coach Meghan Sullivan.
Moro was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference defensive player of the week for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 11, after leading the Giants to a pair of wins.
It marks the second time this year that she has received this award from the conference.
In last Wednesday’s 49-48 victory at Cedar Crest, Moro played all 40 minutes and finished with 13 points, 19 rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
She followed that up with a 25-point, 18 rebound, 2-block effort in a 67-66 win at Immaculata on Saturday.
Moro has recorded four straight ‘double-doubles’ in points and rebounds in her last four games and eight time overall this year.
In the latest CSAC statistical rankings on Sunday night, she led the league in rebounding (11.3), was third in blocked shots (1.5 per game) and 25th in scoring (9.6).
The Giants return to action this Wednesday, Feb. 14, against Centenary University in the Gambal Athletic Center in La Plume beginning at 6 p.m.
Keystone closes out its season at home on Saturday against Notre Dame of Maryland University at 1 p.m.
