Beginning today, Wednesday, Mar. 13, the Tunkhannock swimming team will be represented at the state competition by Dylan Mislevy, Dyllan Henning, Davis Tidball, Julien Madus and AJ Hodge.
States will be held on the beautiful campus of Bucknell university in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania at the Kinney Natatorium.
They make up the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams, that performed to silver and gold medal levels at districts, respectively.
The 200 freestyle relay team returns to the state stage, a year after a heartbreaking disqualification.
This year, the team nudged out Holy Redeemer for first place in 1:32.1 at districts on Friday, Mar. 1 at the CYC in Wilkes-Barre.
The 200 medley team captured second with a 1:42.96 at districts.
Tidball will be competing individually in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
His qualifying times were 22.59 in the 50 and 49.76 in the 100.
On the first day of swimming, the preliminary heats for the 200 medley relay will begin at 10:50 a.m. and the 200 free relay at 12:15 p.m. Both events will have four heats.
The consolation and finals will be 7:05 p.m. for the medley and 8:18 for the free relay.
Davis will swim in the 50 free on Wednesday as well, with an 11:44 a.m. start for the prelims and consolations and finals beginning at 7:46.
Thursday will bring the 100 free event, kicking the day off with prelims at 10:50 a.m., but conseys and final rounds won’t be held until 8:50 p.m.
At the conclusion of the finals, awards for individuals and teams will be presented.
The Bucknell women’s basketball team will be hosting the Patriot League semi-finals on Thursday, March 14. Therefore, PIAA swimming and diving will operate out of the Gerhard Fieldhouse for March 12-14.
