It was 72 years in the making, but new Keystone College football coach Justin Higgins was happy Saturday to let about 30 youths ranging in ages from 5 to 12 to break in the football field the weekend before his varsity Giants engaged in practices.

The KC varsity season starts Saturday, Aug. 25, in New Jersey with a scrimmage against William Patterson College. Plans are to play some of its first season at home, but the opponents have not yet been determined.

The youth activity coincided on Christy Mathewson Day, and the former baseball great played football for the little Giants dating back to the fall of 1895.
